WHERE IS NATURE ALLOWED TO FLOURISH? WHAT IS ALLOWED TO FLOURISH IN NATURE?

THE HISTORIES OF COLONIALISM AND INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY MATERIALISE IN THE FLORA AND FAUNA SURROUNDING US TODAY, CLASSED AS PESTS, WEEDS, MONGRELS, AND INVASIVE SPECIES. AT THE SAME TIME, HUMAN COMMUNITIES AND SOCIAL ECOLOGIES ARE AT THE MERCY OF THE SAME IMPERIAL AND INDUSTRIAL FORCES. SOME OF THESE COMMUNITIES HAVE CALLED A LAND HOME FOR GENERATIONS, OTHERS FOLLOWING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES TO NEW TERRITORIES. NOW, THEY FIND THEIR NEEDS NEGLECTED AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS MADE HOSTILE BY CHANGING ECONOMIC PRIORITIES.

DESPITE THIS, MARGINALISED HUMAN AND NONHUMAN BODIES ALIKE REFUSE TO REMAIN STILL IN UNFRIENDLY, UNFAMILIAR, OR ALTERED ENVIRONMENTS. THESE WORKS FIND SOLACE OR PERSONAL CONNECTION IN LIMINAL SPACES WHERE FERAL ECOLOGIES PERSIST IN FLOURISHING AND CHART THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SOCIAL ECOLOGIES THAT EMERGE ALONGSIDE THESE FERAL ECOLOGIES.

FRESH EXPLORATIONS, PERSPECTIVES AND DIALOGUE THAT INTERSECTS WITH ENVIRONMENTS.
